Meet our Consultants

Susan B. Smith
CPA, CITP, CGMA

Susan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting.  She went on to obtain the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) immediately after graduation.  She began her accounting career working in a commercial real estate office in Columbia, SC, then moved on to join the South Carolina Comptroller General's Office and the team that prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  After several years at the CG's office she moved to the University of South Carolina Foundations where she assists in the oversight of day to day accounting functions and approximately $1 billion in assets.  She manages the Information Technology and Human Resource functions of the office and obtained her CITP - Certified Information Technology Professional designation from the AICPA.  In addition she has successfully assisted several small businesses in the area to convert their accounting records from a manual process to an automated accounting system appropriate for their size and volume by first assessing the current processes in place and identifying the company's needs.  She has also assisted several churches to do the same.  In 2001 she co-led the implementation team at the University of South Carolina Foundations to convert their enterprise accounting system to Blackbaud's Financial Edge accounting solution.  She is known as an expert in regards to that product.

In her free time she enjoys traveling with her husband of 25 years and their teenage son.

Kim Elliott
CPA, CGMA

Kim is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's of Science degree with a double major of Accounting and Finance.  She went on to obtain the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) immediately after graduation.  She began her accounting career working at the State of South Carolina's Auditor's Office.  She then moved on the join the South Carolina Comptroller General's Office and the team that prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  After several years at the CG's office she moved to the South Carolina Department of Revenue where she served as the Controller.  She then moved to the University of South Carolina Foundations where she serves as the Chief Financial Officer in the oversight of day to day accounting functions and approximately $1 billion in assets.  In 2001 she co-led the implementation team at the University of South Carolina Foundations to convert their enterprise accounting system to Blackbaud's Financial Edge accounting solution.  She is known as an expert in regards to that product.

In her free time you can find Kim and her husband of 25 years at a baseball field somewhere in the South East cheering on their two sons.
